Research

I investigate the tension between individual and collective identity: the need to be oneself against the need to belong. I have lived both extremes. For years I followed every convention to earn my place. Then I rejected them all, in search of authenticity. Both times, staying coherent with my choice meant giving up a part of myself. That is where my research begins. I treat contradiction not as a flaw to fix, but as a structural condition of being human. My work does not offer a way out. It makes that condition visible, so that viewers can recognise it in themselves.

  1. Observation

Recognising a conflict between who one is and who the social context requires one to be, and staying inside the discomfort without resolving it.

  2. Decomposition

The conflict is taken into the body and painted instinctively, with rational control partly suspended. What remains on the canvas is its symbolic residue. A second, opposite phase reads that residue rationally, identifying the specific contradictions that generate the tension.

  3. Symbolic Translation

That structure of contradictions is translated into visual or experiential form. The body of work is the whole process; painting, installation and participation are its visible moments.

The art does not illustrate the research. It is the research.
